Guide 101: How to Use the Toxic Industrial Waste E-tracking by NEA
October 2, 2024
The NEA’s toxic industrial waste (TIW) e-tracking feature is designed to help manage and monitor the disposal of toxic waste. This system is crucial for ensuring proper handling and compliance with environmental regulations.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use the NEA’s toxic industrial waste e-tracking system:
Step 1: Registration and Setup
Start by registering your company with a licensed industrial waste collector. Furnish them with essential information about your company. This includes:
- Company Registration No. (ACRA No.)
- Company Name
- Pick Up Address
- Postal Code
- Transport Approval No. (if applicable)
- Name of Declarant (Up to 5 Declarant names)
- Phone No.
- Any Access to Internet
- Email Address (If Internet access is available)
An email will be sent to your declared email address, consisting of your user ID and business reference ID. You can now use your account on the NEA’s ePortal.
Step 2: Logging In
There are two types of logins; businesses and individuals. Your Singpass ID will be needed for either one so ensure you have your credentials ready. If you don’t have a Singpass, you’ll need to sign in with your NEA ID.
Step 3: Navigating the Dashboard
Navigating the dashboard is fairly straightforward. This is where you track waste disposal activities, create consignment notes and generate reports. You can also add new pick up locations and manage your waste disposal history.
Here’s a breakdown of the main sections you will find on the dashboard:
- Profile Management: Update and manage your company’s profile information.
- Waste Tracking: Monitor the status of your waste disposal requests and view detailed information about each request.
- Consignment Notes: Create, view and manage consignment notes for waste disposal.
- Compliance Reports: Access and review reports on your company’s compliance with NEA regulations.
- Notifications: Receive alerts and reminders regarding waste disposal deadlines, upcoming inspections and other important updates.
- Pick Up Locations: Add and manage new pick-up locations for waste disposal.
Step 4: Creating Consignment Notes
To dispose of Toxic Industrial Waste (TIW), you need to create a consignment note. This document tracks the movement of waste from your facility to the disposal site. Click on the “create consignment note” section in the dashboard to make an entry.
Enter details such as the type of waste, quantity and pick-up date. Submit the note for approval once all information has been entered. Track the status of your entry under E TRACKING.
You can also create more drafts or clone recurring consignments notes for regular waste disposal activities.
Step 5: Generating Reports
Access the “generate report” section on the dashboard and choose the type of report you need. Remember to keep your reports organised and secured as they are essential for regulatory compliance.
Additionally, maintaining a well-organised archive of reports will facilitate easier access during audits or inspections. You are also encouraged to keep paper records of all the reports generated.
The Importance of Having a Toxic Industrial Waste E-tracking System
The NEA’s e-tracking system has changed the landscape of waste management for the better. Keeping track of your waste disposal activities has never been easier. You can now ensure the proper disposal of waste and prevent it from being mishandled.
